I need to buy an extra HD for an old PIII computer.

1. How do I find out what model to get?

2. Can you describe the procedures of installing and configuring it? (maybe a web link?)

Thanks.

For some reason my CD/Rom is having problem. I recently bought WoW, put the disk in to install and my C drive says "Please insert Disk". What theres a disk in there!!! In systems everything is fine no ! marks, says no driver updates available e.t.c. What is getting me is I can put in an audio cd (not a burnt cd, an actually music cd) and it will play just fine..

Any ideas of what i can do to fix it would be great
(i've also tried a friends cd/rom to test to make sure wasnt just a dead cdrom, and friends cdrom did exact same as this one, will play audio but no data)

I have decided to go with a PC (but I can't 'decide the answer' to my previous question due to that wait time) so now one more question comes to mind. Which company should I buy from? I don't want to build my own and I need it cheap, but not so cheap as to not run my games. Somewhere below the thousands. But which company has the best desktop for that?

I am going to buy a new computer tommorow because my current computer is so broken that I have to do every single activity in safe mode (and i accidently deleted my recovery partition so no more system recoveries). I've been reading and reading about which computer i should get. Right now I am torn with the effectiveness of the mac and the gamingness of the PC. I like the Mac because of the few viruses and ease to use. However, I am not sure if Macs support IMing. Also, i am not sure if warcraft 3 runs on Mac (most likely not) and all my other games are not compatible. If faced with this choice, what should I choose?

I have a freind, who cannot afford to buy a new system. Her system is well, not in the best "working order", if you know what I mean. I suspect it has viruses, and god knows what else. I know that on my system, I can do a system restore, and or to reformat, I hit the ALT, and F11 keys at the same time. Is this feature on her system, with it being four years old?

It sounds like there is a little ambulance siren in it when I turn it on, not to mention the fact that it won't boot at all.
Also, the light for the harddrive on the front is red instead of green.
Scary.

When my computer comes on it displayes the Gateway screen, then proceeds to another screen that says, "the hard drive was not found, referer to your user's guide." I gat the computer used I don't have a guide. I do have a operating system disk and a drivers disk. I was trying to delete the files on my hard drive, but I still think that I deleted my hard drive. I put in diskpart [/delete] [\device\harddisk0\partition1] [8063MB]. I thought it didn't take affect. But I guess it did. I need help. I know I can do this, but I don't know how. I've tried both of my disks, and I'm a dead end. Another thing I can't get back into my DOS menu. Dose anyone know a way to restore my drive? To create a new one? I tried looking on the web site, but I don't even see my model on it. It's around a 2001 model. Please, Please, Please, there has to be a way out of my mess.
