You can very well give it to charity, or a charitable organisation might have a use for it, ever read the book Zodiac? On a similiar theme, if you really can't get any money for it and no-one wants it, be aware that there are a fair few harmful chemicals to the environment in it, such as the heat sink containing pcb's. So if you do dispose of your system, make sure you dispose of it properly.

You could do a couple of things.
You could make your old computer a fileserver for a home network.
You could make your old computer a bot for manual labor such as solving problems that can take days to do [finding the 10^-1000000000000000000000000 digit of pi].
You could use sell your computer as it.
You could break apart your computer and sell it piece by piece.
You could upgrade your computer and then sell the whole rig.
You could modify the motherboard and CPU for other purposes than just a computer: ie use it for a remote-controlled car [or robot, whatever].

just keep it if it works why get rid of it .keep it as a backup for your new computer in case by some chance you get a virus or something else.also save everything on your new computer that is important onto a floppy disc and if by some chance the new one breaks down you can always have your important files.

Donate it to a Public School, they get barely any funding for that kinda stuff and I am most certain it could help a student learn. But, remove the HDD and destroy it, then recycle the metal of the HDD.

You could keep it as a backup just in case somehting goes wrong with your new one then you could use the old one while the new one gets fixed. You could give it to a family member who doesnt have a computer. You could throw it out. You could sell it on ebay or something for some cash. You could give it to me (just kidding =)

Do what you want! It doesnt matter as long as you are happy!

Many charitable organisations would be grateful for a computer, even an old one... as would schools, many voluntary bodies, etc..
Some, such as Goodwill or the Salvation Army, may even give you a tax credit for the donation

well great for you to be receiving such blessing of a new pc. since u dont want to use old parts of the old pc to your new pc, then i suggest you sell your old computer. there are stores around who buy old pc and sell them as second hand pc. the cash you get from the sale, you may choose to save it in the bank or you may use to buy new things to add to your new pc, like new printer, scanner etc. good luck!

Sell it or donate it to someone who is need of a computer. You can always give it to someone who can't afford to buy a new PC.

Well, if you don't need another doorstop, I'd say junk it.

Why hang onto the old.
