in pc that shut down and wont start up again, theres a pentium 4 Ht processor, in an socket 775 motherboard by ecs.
in older compact with socket 775 motherboard there is a intel celeron d processor and the power supply works on that computer
i want to switch the chips, is this possible

Yes it will work. There is the chance that it will not recognize the full speed of the Pentium 4, if the MB only supports FSB of 533 (Celeron D) and the Pentium 4 has 800. Also the hyperthreading might not work if the motherboard does not support it.

If the motherboard is compatible with pentium 4, yes. The motherboard also would need HT support. If you don't know the exact model of your motherboard, you can always just try it. If it's not compatible, it just won't start up.
