I am going to buy a new computer tommorow because my current computer is so broken that I have to do every single activity in safe mode (and i accidently deleted my recovery partition so no more system recoveries). I've been reading and reading about which computer i should get. Right now I am torn with the effectiveness of the mac and the gamingness of the PC. I like the Mac because of the few viruses and ease to use. However, I am not sure if Macs support IMing. Also, i am not sure if warcraft 3 runs on Mac (most likely not) and all my other games are not compatible. If faced with this choice, what should I choose?

Also sort of another question. Will a Mac Desktop be compatible if the moniter came with a PC?

Well, this is always a subjective discussion, so I'll focus on facts. If you're concerned about playing your games on a Mac, then you can run Bootcamp and boot into either Windows or OS X. Play your games on Windows and do the rest of your activities on OS X. OS X does support IMing and every other activity that's possible on Windows. You'll just end up using different applications for some of those activities.

For example on Windows you might use Trillian for chat while you'd use Fire or Adium on Mac. They do the same thing. I know World of Warcraft runs on OS X, but not sure about Warcraft 3.

I stick with console gaming and use my computer for everything else. Yes, a key advantage of the Mac is lack of viruses and spyware. An appealing concept for anyone these days.

My "personal" opinion, is that I love my Mac - I switched from XP about 2 years ago and have never been happier. For the most part Windows and OS X do the same things, they just do them differently and there are more games available for Windows than Mac, but this isn't Apple's doing. Good luck with whatever you choose.

I love my PC. If I had spent alot of money on games that couldn't play on a Mac, then a PC is what I would go for. Never cared for Apple anything.

I'd go with PC... there are far more applications and support online.
