I need to buy an extra HD for an old PIII computer.

1. How do I find out what model to get?

2. Can you describe the procedures of installing and configuring it? (maybe a web link?)

Thanks.

PIII computers will take any IDE/Atapi hard drives. The new hard drive will come with instructions on how to install it onto your computer. If you want to also keep the old drive as your primary c: drive, and let the new drive be a d: drive, you will need to set the new drive as slave and the old drive as master. The new hard drive instructions will walk you through this.

If you are going to add a HD to an older computer, you can look on the HD that is in the computer to see what kind/type it is.. when you buy the new hard drive it will come with installation instructions... since it sounds like it will be a slave to the old HD... pay attention to the dip switch settings. and get it right..
