I was wondering if it was possible to wire up a bunch of hard drives to one pc baord, then connect that via, say, a parallel port to act as a single really big hard drive. The basic idea is to turn a PC into some sort of secondary-drive manager for another PC. I've heard of RAID setups, but is there a chip that will let me add all the drives together and make my computer think that it's one drive?

I am interested in an HP slimline because of the size of it. Eventually, I would like to upgrade the system and add more memory and maybe something else. How hard would it be to piece the system back together, and is there a manual on how to take it apart to get to a certain piece?

I have a desktop PC running Windows XP. I have a firewall, virus protection and Spyware cleaner. Until recently the computer was working fine. For several weeks now it seems to run out of memory soon after I start using it. I am speaking here of RAM (I think that's the correct term) - - - - what the computer uses to function, not hard disc space which is fine. In order to continue using the computer I must turn it off and reboot. Then the same thing happens again after about 30 minutes or so. I empty the temporary Internet files at least once a day so that's not the problem. Any Ideas?

Last week I upgraded my computer. The problem now is I need a new PSU you handle the power side. I am just wondering though whether a a computer PSU uses its full quota of watts all of the time or simply when it is needed. I don't mean when it is turned off obviously I am just wondering whether if I got a 500W PSU it would draw all that electricity all the time the machine was on. If this is the case I may have to give up with the upgrade due to my living in a student flat with an electricity meter.

I found a card that seems to be pretty good

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814103005

It's a Radeonx1600PRO

the price isn't to ba neither

What's your opinion on it , Have you used it before?

The specs seem to be good , Is their anything that tend to be wrong with this type of card if so , whats usually wrong?

Also is their a better card then this? in the same price range ?

Can you play in the highest settings in most games , like WoW

and Planetside?

Also Does more RAM = Better game play or no?

Because i barely have 1GB of RAM , and i wanted to try out a game which you need about 1GB+ to play

Could i still play?

Thank you.

A few weeks ago my computer was acting funny. After it was shut down it would pop back on and kinda go on and off repeatedly until I finally just unplugged it. Now I cant get it to come on at all. Is it possible my son picked up something playing his games online? Or is it just fried? It is only a couple of years old I'd hate to have to replace it already but I'm not sure what to do.

It so much more confusing that it was 6 years ago when I purchased my current system. There was basically HP, Dell & Gateway. Also there are more operating systems to consider now as well as processors. Should I get Windows XP Home, Pro or Media Center and what type of processor Intel Dual Core, AMD, Celeron, etc for a desktop model?

I was wanting to get a new video card for my dell 4600 w/ XP home edition... i think it has a 64mb NVIDA GeForce4 right now and i want to move up to 128 or 256mb... i know very little about that kind of stuff, what do i need to look at as far as compatibility goes (slot interface, type of RAM, or anything else like that, or are all cards compatible with all computers???) recommend any brands over others or should i just get something cheap? know of any good resources that teach stupid people like me how to pick out a video card? i play a couple games on there, mainly Madden football 07 and watch DVDs
