Depends on the issue being worked. For desktop hardware replacement cases, a #2 Phillips screwdriver will be all you need about 90% of the time. A #1 Phillips and a small flathead screwdrivers, a pair of hemostats for grabbing small things, and maybe a paperclip (mostly for stuck CD trays) will take care of most of the rest and be useful on notebooks.

You can normally buy PC Toolkits like the Belkin 65-Piece Tool Kit, which has a load of handy stuff in a zip up case. The most important part for hardware is an anti-static strap and for software tech stuff try and keep CDs for operating systems and drivers.

I use a laptop, a phillips screwdriver, a multimeter (digital), various os disks (win 98, xp, linux, etc), needle nose plyers,anti-static gloves, an ESD wristband, my memory and a notebook and pen.

Philips screwdriver, OS install disc. Oh sorry, that's 'PC engineer'!

Well then it's probably a computer, screwdriver set, isopropanol, foam cleaner, dust blower, label remover, software install discs.
