if you offer AMD, why AMD is cheaper if it is faster?
if you offer Intel, then how AMD is competing with this large - famous company (and win in many cases)

It starts to turn on but only for about a half a second. It doesn't appear to be hard-drive or software related.. I'm thinking the power switch.. any suggestions? I can't get parts up here, does anyone know how to hot wire a computer?

For example, Dell forces the person to buy everything (mobo, cpu, graphics card, memory, etc) through their computer builder. I want to buy a computer with just the tower, mobo, and cpu installed. Is there any computer company that lets me do that? I looked into barebone systems but they don't quite have what I am looking for.

I am trying to play a Doom 3 game and wanted to be sure my computer meets all the requirements, because the game keeps shutting down. I am sure of all of them except a hardware accelerator card and the video card type.
Also; I am running Windows XP on a fairly new Dell desktop. THX

My computer came with an integrated Nvidia GeForce 6150, but the sales rep at the store I bought it at told me that basically all integrated graphics cards suck. Therefor, I took an ATI Radeon 9200 PCI card out of another computer and threw it in my new one. Was this a good choice, or was the Nvidia better quality?

I own a e-machine pc, i've had it for about 2 - 2 1/2 years now. It was working just recently then all of a sudden when I turned it on, the only thing that seems to be working is just the fan from the processor. The power supply seems to be working (cause I see the fan from the power supply spinning) , but other then that nothing else seems to be working.

whats the best kind of dell comp i can find

that I didn't need that system. I am not a gamer at all and everyone is saying that its good for gamers. I'm just a college student thats sick of having a crappy computer thats slow and freezes up.

My current emachines computer that I've had for 3 years has 2.20 GHz, 40 GB hard drive, 128 MB DDR. It was really cheap but grandma bought it for me so I can't complain.

The XPS 400 that I ordered has 2.80 GHz, 250 GB hard drive, and 1GB DDR2 (is this the memory?) I have absolutely NO CLUE what any of these things mean but it has to be better than what I have. I'm only going to use it for home use for online, research, writing papers etc. NO gaming.

I paid $1212 total. It comes with 19" flat screen, photo all in one printer, security software, spyware and Microsoft works suite 2006.

Did I spend too much for what I need it for? I'm just tired of computer problems and not having enough memory etc. I can cancel it if I did. What do you comp geniuses think? What do you suggest?

Well I just got a hdtv and i hooked my computer up to it. Everything looks great but the mouse and keyboard are wired. I want a wireless mouse and keyboard but the probem is that the usbs on my computer don't work. I have a usb to mouse converter so I can connect them to the actual ports. The question I have is can a wireless version of a mouse and keyboard work through the same way?

Question for a computer hardware or software engineer.

I downloaded a program called Watch TVPro and the installation stopped because the program is unable to find a module/device in my Windows XP Prof.

Possible with Technotrend-Premium and compatible PCI TV cards (DVB-s and DVB-C) (this program doesn't work with budget cards, such as the Hauppauge Win TV Nova, USB cards or analog TV cards)

Do I need to purchase a DVB-s card from a computer store or an electronics store to go into my processor??.

And to your knowledge would I have to search for additional software to obtain this TV transmission from Germany.

I can get CTube and YouTube with no additional software.

Thanks,
Minddoctor

i can get a compaq w8000 for free. its pretty nice but to make it even better i'd have to put in like 200 bucks. would it be worth it? i know its a server mobo and stuff but i would think that it would still perform pretty high for other things too

Is there a piece of software that can be used as a boot disk to diagnose a problem with my pc that keeps rebooting.

I done some checks and am sure it's not software and have checked for dust on the motherboard.

Would really appreciate any assistance on hardware diagnostic tools that are preferably free.

Thank you

I don't mean by going to system tools and opening it. Isn't there a way that I boot from a disc and choose to erase everything and have it restore itself to the day it came out of the box.
If it helps, this is a dell dimension 4600 desktop computer.
Please help because dell's website is retarded ans I don't feel like putting up with it.

I am a little confused, and completely clueless, of why this happens, and if it matters what I do.

When I have things plugged into my USB 2.0 port, like my iPod or my memory stick, There comes up at the bottom right in the registry a way to disconnect them. I can click it, and it says that I can disconnect. But sometimes, I just pull it out, say if I need to leave in a hurry or something, or I'm just lazy. Does it matter what I do? Do I always need to "safely" remove items by clicking them and removing them at the bottom right, or can I just pull it out? If you need any other computer specifications, please say so.
