Soon im going to make a new gaming computer. And this the first gaming computer ive made by my self and im not sure ive theres any thing i need to improve. so tell me what i need to improve.

Hi, I need to simulate a slow machine. I tried VMWare workstation and MS Virtual PC, none of them supports setting the speed of the processor lower that originally set. Any of you has an idea? Thanks, a lot.

Good God, please help me.
I just eagerly dropped close to $100 for new cords and cables to hook up my Hanns G TFT LCD 19" PC Monitor to my new Time Warner HDMI/HDTV cable box "silver moxy", but the STAND IS IN THE WAY. Literally. The black plastic stand on this model is preventing me from hooking up the HDMI cable and HDMI-DVI adapter properly to the monitor. Quite literally, the stand is too bulky and there is not enough vertical clearance to fit the adapter, which is also plugged into the HDMI cable. I am pissed. I understand the Hanns G was never intended for HDTV but it can handle it and this is such a crappy hurdle! I tried to disassemble the base/stand but it won't come off! I don't want to unscrew the entire thing and I have COMPLETELY FORGOTTEN how I attached the stand in the first place. Probably some god-awful irreversible snapping procedure that I've forgotten. Can anyone please help?! A thousand thank yous in advance!!! Does anyone know anything about this model's stand?

when people talk about dual core processors at X.x speed do they mean that there are two cores working at X.x speed each?

If so, does this means that a solo core working at 2X.x speed is equivalent to a dual core at X.x?

After lending my laptop to a friend it has been having some very strange issues. It is very slow to start up and audio/video comes through very laggy/distorted. I opened up the task manager and the CPU usage was at 100%. I also looked at memory usage for all processes and they were through the roof, much higher than they normally are. I'm afraid a virus or program is eating away at my computer but I cannot find it. I ran Spy Bot Search & Destroy. It found about 65 problems but it said it fixed them all. As I am typing this my laptop is putting it in very slowly. Any advice would greatly be appreciated!

My laptop wouldn't charge and wouldn't turn on, so I sent it in to a local computer repair shop a week ago to get it repaired.

They now tell me that the hard drive is fried and that I owe them $130.

Do I really owe them anything since they didn't fix my computer and doesn't even turn on?

Hey you guys! I have an HP Pavilion laptop and it is also Windows Vista Ultimate. I was wondering if there is anyway for me to add more space to it? I have heard of things such as external hard drives or whatever....Can I use those? I need more than just a couple gigabytes of space...maybe 10-30 more gigs of space...Anyone know how to do this? alright this is most definately the strangest problem I've had and i'm absolutely confused(I'm usually pretty good with computers but read on)

alright the keyboard tray in my desk is a little broken so from time to time it gets bumped and falls to the floor, so i accidentally bumped the tray the keyboard and mouse fell to the floor the keyboard landed keyside down.
This caused my computer to go screwy and go into standby mode, I could not get out of standby mode so I turned the computer off and on.
when my computer turned back on everything was fine except it wouldn't connect to the internet, I checked the internet connections and device manager and there my ethernet card is not showing up I tried to detect it using add new hardware but it will not show up. The ethernet card is built into the motherboard. The light is working where the ethernet cable is plugged in(green if plugged in yellow if not). windows does not detect whether the cord is plugged in or not, I tried system restore

Sooooo my dell (laptop 1420) is quite the piece. I bought it about 3 months ago and it randomly deleted 2 of my user accounts when I reinstalled windows. When I talked to dell the best they could tell me was "sometimes it just happens". So now what? I lose all my college work and photos and stuff? Has this happened to anyone and was it fixed? My 2 accounts still appear when I turn on my computer but when I log on to my master account it says "Account Service service failed to log on". So that's another issue is I can't get onto my master account so I can't change any settings. Someone please help me!?!?

Is there anything I can have dell do about this? Can I get a new one under warranty? I'm afriad this is just going to keep happening.

I have an shared HP PSC 1410 all in one printer in my network.

Alright so I just renewed my world of warcraft subscription for the first time in about 3 months, and 3 times today my laptop just shut off as i was playing the game. The fan in my laptop is really loud and after my computer shut off the third time i went ahead and felt the underside of it and it was almost too hot too touch. I never had the problem before.It's a sony vaio, got it about 2 years ago. It has 1.86 GHz Intel Pentium M processor and 1 GB of ram so i dont think it has to do with anyover load on the system. What should i do.
