Planning to buy a computer : Need some help!!!?
I’m planning to buy a Desktop unfortunately I’m not a computer expert so I really need some help please.
My question is that if I but a computer either from Circuit City, Best Buy or Fry’s what softwares are already include in the computer? Do I have to buy security software, office productivity software like Microsoft office Home & Student, Digital Media software etc?
I’m asking this because for Dell computers I need to buy all these softwares apparently MS Word is not include.

After building my own computer on start up I get the message "Isolinux 1.68 0x3c7f7718 Isolinux failed to get sector size assuming 0800". I have XP Pro I want to install but it doesn't seem to be able to see it. It keeps trying to boot from the hard drive which of course has nothing on it. Going into cmos shows that it recognizes everything correctly, hard drive, floppy drive, cd drive, memory, processor ect. but it won't boot from the XP disk which is in the CD drive.

what is the best (fairly cheap) webcam that I can buy at walmart? anyone actually have one from there that they like/love? me and my cousin want to keep in touch more with webcams but dont want to spend a fortune on one but we dont want it to be a peice of junk! and i'm visiting her small town and walmart is the only store!

please anyone help me for this what can i do to know what my system by checking i mean HARDWARE! is it possible to know my motherboard,hard disk,video card,sound card,lan card,etc. type and product by checking in commands i mean not to open the entire pc just checking using your mouse and keyboard coz sometimes when we buy a computer like used pc or second hand we dont know if the owner write the true specs of his computer he sell and off corz we cant open the entire system to check if that pc is ok to used thats why i ask this and hope you can help me guys thanks

I am having problems with my computer restarting, normally when i am playing a game. My uncle, who built the computer, said that he thought he overclocked the graphics card. I have done numerous virus and spyware scans, updated all drivers, so i think that if the card is overclocked it might be causing the problems.

I have a dell Demension 2400 and right now have 512 memory. ( x2 256 drives) I recently tried to upgrade to 1 gb.
I bought a 1 gig memory card
PC2700 DDR 184 Pin 333MHZ
I put it in my computer (by itself) and my computer would not get past the "Dell screen"
Shoul I buy two 512 cards?

I want a computer that is between $500-800 without screen. I want something that will last for a long time and has good enough specs to play a game every once in a while and can eventually be upgraded. I want it mostly for school and some entertainment such as editing a few pictures and I do not want integrated graphics. I also DO NOT want a Mac. So I could use my Xbox 360 on line, but the speed of my connection seems to be affected. I've got 8.6mbps broadband and it seems to be running slower since I replaced my Speedtouch modem with the router, it takes longer to download music and video clips than it use to, even when the Xbox isn't swiched on. Help please!
