I am having problems with my computer restarting, normally when i am playing a game. My uncle, who built the computer, said that he thought he overclocked the graphics card. I have done numerous virus and spyware scans, updated all drivers, so i think that if the card is overclocked it might be causing the problems.

If the cpu has been overclocked then all you have to do is take the battery off of the motherboard wait for a few minutes then put it back in the holder. This will reset the board to default settings. Ant memory clock changer or front side buss speed changes that were made will no longer be set in the bios. You will also need to reset all of the bios settings such as hard drives ans system clock after this is done. If the video card has been overclocked then there was a program that was used to speed it up. Look in the bottom right of your task bar and check all of the quick start icons. When you find the program that was used then right click on it and choose disable to stop it. Test the computer to see if it has made a difference. This should take care of the problem for you.

Check the current core and memory clock settings of the card with Everest or ATI Tool. If the card responds to ATI Tool, set the card back to default settings.

If overheating GPU is suspected as a cause of random restarts, try opening the case and pointing an electric towards the graphics card. If problem persists, it might not be the video card. Other possibilities could be RAM or power supply instability.
