I am 14 and looking for a laptop because i have two older brothers who are constantly on our desktop. Looking for a fast laptop (2.0 maybe) with good memory for pictures & word/excel/powerpoint documents... and that's about it. not too expensive or too heavy. - slim would be nice- but a good size screen preferably. --- i know i'm being picky - but any ideas?

My computer is a Medion M3 Composer 5200...

I have a:

3.2 GHz Intel Pentium 4 w/ HT processor
256 MB GeForce video card (don't remember what model)
1.5 GB RAM

I got the video card a couple years ago for gaming and it was good up until now... I played Company of Heroes and noticed the framerate dropped pretty low, even with a lot of the detail settings turned down.

I'm thinking about buying BioShock for my PC instead of for Xbox 360, but am worried about having to play on low detail with a crappy framerate. Can anyone suggest a new video card that is a) affordable, b) compatible with my motherboard, and c) will be powerful enough to let me run BioShock at decent graphics settings?

My computer has gone completely nuts, and I cannot fix it with a system restore that will backup all my data files. The computer works somewhat. I can access the internet and access just aout everything except my desktop. But I get a million error messages and I can't run my anti-virus or update anything.

I have about 50GB worth of various files that I would like to keep before I do a full system restore.

What would be the best way to save these files so that I can reformat my computer?

Hey there true believers,
My wife and I are likely to inherit a great 1 year old computer from her parents (Compaq Presario). It has a P4 2.8 processor & 512 MB memory. I checked with 4allmemory.com to see how much memory could be added since I prefer to have 1GB or (preferably) more onboard. According to the site, it has a max capacity of 1GB. I would like to bring it to 2 GB, but that isn't possible to do so with the current setup. Would it be possible to simply replace the motherboard to one that would allow more memory? I think its a mini-ATX. Its a sweet computer now, but with how my wife & I use our laptops, we'd need more memory. I'm certain I have the technical knowhow to replace the motherboard, but I'd like some certainty that it can be done. I'd hate to crack the casing and fine out that Compaq uses special rivets to hold the motherboards in place instead of simple screws

I got an HP Pavilion a430n Desktop PC with nothing added on. How can I use the s-video output to display on my other TV. I tried looking it up on my PC settings but I'm a lil' lost.

It's nice but the quality of the picture isn't all that. Since this has no dvi connection but just vga I want to know whether upgrading my current graphics card would improve picture quality.

I have just had to buy a new digital camera - it's a canon ixus 70 and has to have stuff installed to work (not just the cable which is really annoying - is there any way around that too?) Anyway, it's fine on my laptop but won't install on my Mum's comp because it says there is not enough resolution. The questions are, how can I change the resolution and will it work if I can? PC's very slow & now I need to install some GIS & modelling programs. I wonder if it's enough 2 format my pc? Or shd I upgrade either motherboard, RAM, processor or all? My current pc specs:

I've been to a local PC store to ask about this,& this is their suggestion:

Motherboard: MSI P4M900M (Via P4M900, DDR II 533, Onboard VGA AGP Slot, Sound, LAN)

Will the 3 upgrades affect video/audio quality? Shd I buy a new harddisk & other parts as well? If that's so,am I better off w/ a new CPU? thx in advance
