I have just had to buy a new digital camera - it's a canon ixus 70 and has to have stuff installed to work (not just the cable which is really annoying - is there any way around that too?) Anyway, it's fine on my laptop but won't install on my Mum's comp because it says there is not enough resolution. The questions are, how can I change the resolution and will it work if I can? Thanks for your time and input. Any further details required, just let me know.

To increase the resolution, right-click the mouse anywhere on the desktop there aren't any icons and select Properties.
Select the Settings tab and on the page that comes up, move the slider to the right then click okay.

Okay, changing the resolution is the easy part, you've got lots of answers telling you how, just make sure the colour depth is max (32bit), and you're away.
You shouldn't need to use canon's software either. Insert the CD and see if there is an option to install drivers only. If not, look on canon's website for ixus drivers and install those.
Insert the usb cable into the computer and the camera. The computer should find the camera as a portable device. If it asks for drivers, tell it to look at the cd.
You'll then be able to see the camera in windows explorer as a new drive. If not, look on canon's website for ixus drivers.
The easiest method though is to remove the memory card and put it into a card reader. Insert that into a usb port and it's like using a flash-drive.
You can now copy the files to the computers hard drive to edit in photoshop, or what ever package you're gonna use. Just don' t delete the files with windows. Always use the camera to do that, though that depends on the manufacturer.

I really don't understand your question - are you talking about software that you have to install to your PC for your digital camera with your USB cable? If that is so, then there is no need to change monitor's display resolution, as well as camera's resolution. Go to desktop screen->right click->Display settings to change your desktop's resolution.

Hi!
In order to adjust the screen resolution Right Click on any empty space on your desktop. Click Properties. The last tab is Settings. Go there. Slightly move the slider (lower left) to the right. Try again.

wow thats a tuff one for me anyway try going into desktop properties and adjusting the resolution by right clicking the desktop and selecting it it could also mean the actual resolution that the monitor displays at could not be adequate

Right click on your dekstop. Click properties. Go to Settings. You can change the screen resolution . Most probably it will work.

you can try going to My Computer>contol Panel>Display and click settinggs tav on the top right anf try playing with the screen resolution , because I dont know the size of your computer screen. So try thaat.

right click the desktop. choose properties then the settings tab
move the slider to the right to increase resolution - if its greyed out you may have to update your graphics card drivers
