I'm getting a new 8600 GTS and I'm trying to find a good power supply to use with it, but I really don't know anything about the brands or anything.

Sorry for not adding details. My PC is an HP a1730n and I really don't want to spend more than $60 on the power supply. I think 450-550W is enough because the only extra thing I need to power is the video card. Right now, my PC is running off the stock 350W, which sucks.
Other people have recommended antec and coolermaster as reliable brands.

Thanks for the additional details. The Antec and Coolermaster are both good power supplies, another name that you may want to add to your list is Fortron. When purchasing a power supply I look for certain features such as low noise (normally that means a 120mm fan or larger), 80% efficency or higher (less power is converted to heat) and modular, so you can avoid the mess of the extra cables. I would look for those features in that order.
The first power supply on the list (the 650W coolermaster) is what I would get if I were in your shoes. If you do not like dealing with reabtes and have to stay within $60 shipped, consider these: http://www.directron.com/win420ub.html

The Vantec is a really good power supply so I think it should be at the top of your list.

Do not skimp on a power supply, in most cases a power supply that costs less than $50 is of very low quality.

All the power supplies on this list will handle a 8600GTS without breaking a sweat.

Budget (good quality and enough to power a medium spec'ed PC - around 500W peak)
Coolermaster 650W: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171014
This power supply is on sale today and is an incredible deal, but involves a mail-in rebate. Normally this power supply would be among the top ones, but for $55 it's a steal.
Xcilio 500W:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817189014
Less known brand, good quality and active PFC.
HEC 580W:
http://www.directron.com/ace580ub.html
This company offers some of the best bang for the buck power supplies out there.

Midrange (for a more power hungry system, normally used for gaming and may have additional hard drives. For those who want some additional features - min. 550W, active PFC, some are modular).
Mushkin 580W:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817812004
Modular and good quality.
Antec 550W:

Modular and efficient
HEC 650W:

A lot of power for a very good price.

High end (min. 700W, can handle multiple video cards and quad core CPUs - quite expensive, but you get what you pay for)

PCP&C 750W:
If you can afford it this is the one to buy - probably the best power supply on the planet

Seasonic 700W:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151031
This company manufactures the most quiet and efficient power supplies.
Silverstone 750W:

I own this one. Excellent quailty, top notch customer service.

The 8600 GTS draws up to 4 amps on the +12V rail of the power supply. A good 400-430 watt power supply with at least 18 amps on the +12V rail should have no problem powering that card all day long. Just get a reliable brand, especially one that has quality and safety certifications on the sticker label (UL, FCC, TUV, Nemko, etc.)
