hi there
to find out what graphics card you have just right click on the desktop click display settings then advanced settings
in adapter type is the name of your graphics card
im not sure if a graphics card upgrade will do the tricks or not
but thats how you find out what card you have
play around with the resolution settings cos when i got my new Pc on a 19" monitor i thought the same the quality wasnt all that so play around with those settings and you should find a happy medium without changing your graphics card

Go to http://belarc.com and download their free Advisor program. Run it and it will give you an excellent listing of the hardware, programs, serial numbers, patches, and more on your PC. You will be able to get the information you want about what card you currently have in the PC, and also the information about what kind of a graphic port you have (AGP, PCI, PCI-e, etc) so you know what cards you can purchase.
