Thats the ghetto way -- just network your PCs and use a print server.

If you are talking about sharing the USB connection, this is hopless. USB uses serial communucation and you can't share it. However there are USB sharing devices but belive me a working one of this is probably more than the printer you have.

If you are willing to make a simple switch to select which PC's gonna use the printer. That's easy, you can make it by sacrificing a USB hub.

If you have a broadband router you already have all you need.

Run the network wizard in XP - set up a network with File and Print permissions and then you can print from both PCs without issue.

why build, u can buy it, same cost
that is very copulated and you would be a lot better off just buying a switch
