I don't know how to get my old stuff to put on vista

You need to load all the programmes from scratch, this requires the programme disks.

Save your old stuff to a floppy or disk and then when you download vista load all the thing on the disk to vista.

You have Downloaded a bramd new Operating System. Unless your older programs are compatible with the new operating system they won't work anyway.
Any older software will require you to first check and see if updates are available for the older software you had, and will require you to probably re download the missing software, and will also require you to have the original Installation Software(Disc's)
