I have a Dell Inspiron 6000, and its pretty slow now. I was wondering what i could do to speed it up. I'm pretty good with computers but I'm far from a pro. I have 512mb of memory, If I buy more memory will it speed up? (ex 1gb)? or is there something else i can do....?

I have a latitude d600 and the CPU temp is 45 degrees C and the hard drive is is also 45 degrees. I'm running a program called I8kfanGUI which lets you control the fans. I turned the fan to high which lowered the temp of the CPU but not the hard drive. Does anyone have any suggestions on a way to lower the temp of the hard drive?

When I go to turn on my computer all the lights and fans start to run and so do all of the drives but thats all it does. It won't start up I noticed that my video card's fan is running really fast which it has never done befor. There were no signs of any problems leading up to this, I simply turned it off and when I tried to turn it back on later It didn't start I think its my video card because my monitor doesn't display anything when I turn it on. Could someone please tell me what has happened or even better how to fix it?

I download video from some news groups. For the 4.7GB DVDs, I burn them and they work fine in my DVD players. But when I burn 8.5GB double layer DVDs, my DVD players don't recognize them.

I need help with this ! I have no wireless internet but I need to be able to have an internet connection on my laptop at my house.

I use Comcast Internet and I have a modem attached to my computer. I want to know how to share the modem with my laptop and my desktop at once.

when i first got my computer, i got battlefield 1942 and played it all the time, and it ran basically perfect (if i put setting on high, it would only lag a little). now, about 2 years after the purchase, nothing runs fast... AT ALL! it is completely slow, and i can't seem to fix it. i ran disk defragmentor, disk cleanup, a virus scan, a spyware scan, all sorts of registry cleaning tools (never fully purchased any though), and now im stumped. i also ran system restore, which i am pretty sure failed all three times i tried.

my system specs are:

processor- AMD Athlon 64 processor ~2.4 ghz
RAM - 896 GB
directX - latest direct x
video card - SiS 760 (latest drivers installed)
sound card - Realtek AC97 Audio

although, i have installed many demos between that time, then uninstalled them all on one day. before i ran the registry cleaners though!

My PC has begun exibiting a new problem. It resets as if the power is cut briefly. It´s not windows crashing. I can hear the fans going down in rpm as if I cut the power. Only the power goes on again after maybe a second. This has happened a few times and I haven´t been doing anything in particular while this has happened. The PSU is relatively new. The MB as well. Both MB and CPU temperatures appear normal. I moved recently and decided to clean out the insides of my computer. Removed dust from fans and such. I never had this problem before I moved though. I do have some other stuff on the same power connector but I have less then what I had before I moved. A lamp I have at my desk doesn´t react when the computer cuts down so the power in general doens´t seem to be the problem. What could it be? The computer works just fine when it is working. I recently checked for viruses and regularly update firewall, antivirus and anti spyware.

I have to hit the shift key with ' key to get @ and I have to hit Shift and 2 to get ". It's really weird, like they're switched. The rest of my keys are fine. It's just these 2 keys that are switched. Anyone have any ideas how to fix it or why it's like that?
