How can I restore sound to my Gateway computer?

My computer crashed ,I did recovery disk. But now I have no sound.(soundcard or driver) Can I repair this myself?

You may have deleted the drivers including the soundcard driver. A CD that came with computer usually has the drivers. Install them. If you do not have the CD, you may have to download from Gateway's website.
