I seem to have somehow cleaned off some of the coating on my screen. It has gone clear in some parts and blotchy in others. Is this possible? How do I fix it?

All was ok yesterday with no problems, I turned my computer on this morning and before windows loads it says

CMOS settings failed
CMOS memory failed

I get a choice between F1 (takes me to the set up screen)
of F2 which loads the default settings

F2 does load windows but the time and date are back to 2003!!!

Can anybody help please, I have scanned for virus's and spware etc to no avail,

I went onto crucial.com and get the following details

Motherboard - Elite Group (ECS) K7S5A (Rev 3.X)

Maximum Memory Capacity: 1024MB
Currently Installed Memory: 1GB
Available Memory Slots: 0
Number of Banks: 2
Dual Channel Support: No
CPU Manufacturer: AuthenticAMD
CPU Family: AMD Athlon(tm) Processor Model 8, Stepping 1
CPU Speed: 1244 MHz

And from another site I got the following info

AMI BIOS version 01.20. Daton 02.04.01

Thats all is over my head!!!!

If you can help PLEASE do???

All help is greatly appreciated

Are there agp video cards available with HDMI ports? Are there current 19" and 20" LCD monitors and LCD TVs being made that have DVI ports? I know it's probably time to upgrade to a newer, faster, more up-to-date PC, but my PC has a big HD, 1GB of ram and works fine. . .

Hey i right now have 2x 512MB of Corsair DDR2-800 overclocked to DDR2-933. Im looking to buy 2x 1GB of Corsair DDR2-800 and plan to give it the same overlclock. Would having 2x 512MB + 2x 1GB in my computer slow it down. I have the Asus P5B deluxe motherboard with Intel P965 chipset.

I have an old 14 inch CRT Compaq monitor and I bought a new computer yesterday. The monitor doesn't work with my new computer but it will work with my old computer so what can I do to get it to work with the new computer?

I also know about getting drivers for it but how do I do that. Also the new system is working with vista and my old computer was XP, so I'm not sure about the drivers working with vista. Thanks

Ok it says before I remove my power supply and put in a new one I have to remove the fan assembly. But the problem is, I dont know where the hell it is! I've looked inside the computer and haven't found anything thats matched the picture. Please help me. I know I have to unscrew the 4 screws in the back for the power supply. Is the fan assembly in the Power supply? I have a dell dimension 4600. Here is the website that tells for my system how to remove the fan assembly. Just click it at the top.

Thanks in advance.

I have a 50ft (supposedly high quality, 24AWG, triple shielded--whatever that means) DVI-D cable which weaves through walls, across other various power/computer/audio cables, through the attic, and into a kitchen. It's quite a journey. The highest resolution I can see on my LCD Monitor in the kitchen is 1024x768, and even then, there are occasional sparkles. I realize that DVI cables are not intended for these lengths, but don't really have any other choice. I bought a Gefen DVI Booster, which doesn't help. Would it help to attempt to shield the cable by keeping it away from other power/etc. cables. Or maybe wrapping foil or cloth, or something around it?

Put in new fan but it is still not running. Have been informed that computer will overheat if kept in use with out fan running.

What could be the problem?

System boots perfectly with no errors.
Have a Dell Dimension 4300 (desktop).
Did a test to check hardware on computer--no alerts or errors.

Note: I don't hear the power supply fan running either but someone said that if this fan went out, nothing on the computer would not be able to work or even power on.

I have an Intel Pentium D 3.0Ghz processor and lately, for no apparent reason it will spike to 80-100% usage for a split second(enough to skip music, video or the likes). It does it regardless of what programs I have open, firefox, IE, winamp, or anything. I'm running Windows XP. I was thinking maybe I had spyware, but I can't seem to locate any at all. Any ideas, or possible fixes? It's quite annoying and I'd like to fix it.

1.5gb DDR2
WinXP Home SP2
GeForce 6600 VCPU 256mb
