If you have concerns over the laptop, DO NOT contact a retailer, they care not a lot, contact the MANUFACTURER support line, exsdplain to them, THEY are the ones that will KNOW the answer. If they tell you it's normal, it's normal.

Are you by any chance using the laptop on a bed / your lap ? If so you may not have enough circulation of air around it.

Despite the name, laptops are NOT designed to sit on a lap / bed / carpet. The manual tells you to sit it on a solid flat surcafe, like a desk.

Also you can buy extra trays to sit a lappy on with fans in it to cool it more.

depending on what's inside the laptop, yes it can get pretty hot. an example of this would be a high-rpm hard drive and/or a high performance video processor

it also depends on what you're running at the time...intensive applications (such as 3d intensive games) make your hardware components run hotter

no it doesn't mean your fan isn't working, but if its really bothering you, you can go out and buy one of those laptop cooling pads/stands.

if it gets hot to the point where your computer auto shuts down or becomes slow/unstable, then you have a problem.

Hmm.
Can you hear your fan?
If so..guess what.
Your Fan works!
Yay.
Most laptops get hot and become unconformable. Its normal (if the fan works).
if its shutting down from heat then thats not normal/

So you are using the laptop on your lap right? You should make sure you are not blocking any air vents on the bottom of the laptop. That would cause the laptop to overheat.

that just means that youve been on it to long so you would have to turn it off and let it get cool off and in a few if will be just as it was before
