Well that sentence "don't care aobut the price" makes this question very very simple, and anyone who answers otherwise is flat out wrong. For dual core, the Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 is the fastest chip out there, no questions about it. Look at the provided benchmarks, and it is easy to see this chip is the winner. There are cases in which quad cores can outperform it if a multithreaded task is being used, but you only asked about dual cores.

If you want a the best for your money I would always count on AMD and its predecessors because if these chips are made for gamers , you can over clock them to a higher rate speed than any other normal chip without burning them up. so a 3000 can give you an extra 250 making it 3250MHz computer.

Look around at pre-made systems... the systems with Intel are always more expensive than the systems with AMD. Then remember that old phrase, "you get what you pay for".

I am gonna go with "Pyria" the AMD is way better than the Intel. The Intel is over rated and over priced.
