I have a Packard Bell MZ35-U-005, which was working perfectly fine. I tried to play a dvd at one point, and got an error, even though i have been using the laptop to watch dvds for a while. The error said that the dvd was in use with another program or it asks me to adjust my monitor resolution or color settings. I have tried this even though they are set to normal values. The main confusion though, is that it still detects the drive, and i can still play games and rip music onto my hard drive, so the reader is working fine. Anbody got a suggestion as to the problem, and hopefully a solution?

BIOS at startup of IBM shows BIOS and video are shadowed. How do I turn this off?

I thought I browsed all option on my BIOS but didn't see it. Is this because BIOS went to default setting where it was previously set to start off a network?

I have a 300 GB hard drive I want to add to a Compaq Presario 3800. When I open up the computer, there seem to be wires for additional hard drives. Wanting to see if the drive would even be accessible, I plugged it into my external drive... The computer recognized it. However, it only recognized the drive as being 128 GB rather than the full 300. Why? I vaguely remember being told I would have to purchase some sort of card to allow full capacity recognition of the drive. If true, what card do I need to fit my computer?

Also, what wires, etc. do I need to purchase in order to install the drive into the computer internally?

Computer: Compaq Presario 3800, SR5110NX

I was going to install the Sims 2 on my computer, but when I put it in, my computer wouldn't recognize that anything was in the cd drive- I even looked in My Computer and in D drive and nothing showed up. I successfully installed it on another computer of mine, so i don't think it is the disc that is at fault. how can i access it so that I can install it?

I just bought a Radeon X1950PRO 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 AGP 8X IceQ 3 Turbo HDCP Video Card, installed it in my computer, and connected it to my monitor using a DVI to VGA adapter (the card only has dvi output)... When i boot up, all i get it a blank screen. The fan on the card is spinning and the light on it is on. I have no idea what I did wrong. My old video card is a BFG GeForce FX 5500 OC 128MB 8x AGP Video Card.

My resolution(screen size) is decreasing day by day. I bought this LG monitor(flat) at late 2000. I know its a lot of days but the monitor seems to perform a couple of more years!

Rarely I found nothing but a bright line, when i slap lighly on the monitor body the display becomes visible.

I consulted to my friends and think that I have to clear the monitor's picture tube, its conncection beacuse since bought @ 2000 the monitor was not ever opened cos it ran smoothly.

My quesion is: How should I clean the internal parts of monitor; What are the risks and protection of it, what type of materials are preffered ..and any additional helps are welcome.
Please answer only if u r familiar and expertise :)

I've upgraded from normal XP to XP Pro x64 to use the capabilies of my AMD 64 chip. However, there are no 64-bit drivers for my scanner or webcams. The only way for me to use them is to dual-boot. Is there a way to use them inside x64? Could the drivers somehow be modified to be accepted by the system, or could I log in to my other OS from within x64 to gain access to these peripherals?

If I untick the box I can get more settings up to 100mhz, which dont seem to be really recomended. I am having a few probs with my text display, so would it be safe to try one of these higher settings. I know that useing too high resolution for the size of your screen can cause damage. Dose the same apply to refresh rate
