I've upgraded from normal XP to XP Pro x64 to use the capabilies of my AMD 64 chip. However, there are no 64-bit drivers for my scanner or webcams. The only way for me to use them is to dual-boot. Is there a way to use them inside x64? Could the drivers somehow be modified to be accepted by the system, or could I log in to my other OS from within x64 to gain access to these peripherals?

There are instances in which the 32 bit driver will work in the 64 bit OS, you can try that, but I make no guarantees. Other than that, you are basically stuck. Unfortunately you fell victim to AMDs very clever marketing campaign, but they forget to tell you one thing. In addition to the 64 bit chip and the 64 bit OS, you need one more thing to be able to get the 64 bit performance advantage, 64 bit programs. I can tell you myself that I am using a 64 bit OS myself right now, but only about 3 of the 100 or so programs I use are 64 bit programs, meaning I only get the performance advantage when using those programs. The same holds true in your case. My best advice is to go back to 32 bit until you get some new hardware, because honestly you are not getting that big a benefit from having the 64 bit OS anyway.

Okay, the Asker has already said that there are NO 64-bit drivers. So the first responder's answer is a little generic and idiotic (Yahoo Answers will let ignorant person answer a computer question.).

I am guessing that you did not know beforehand the risks of using a 64-bit OS. Since there are no 64-bit drivers, then you will want to go back to your 32-bit XP OS if you want to use the same equipment, dual boot or otherwise.

Download the scanner software from the scanner's site. You may also find the downloads for the Windows XP pro x64.
