My resolution(screen size) is decreasing day by day. I bought this LG monitor(flat) at late 2000. I know its a lot of days but the monitor seems to perform a couple of more years!

Rarely I found nothing but a bright line, when i slap lighly on the monitor body the display becomes visible.

I consulted to my friends and think that I have to clear the monitor's picture tube, its conncection beacuse since bought @ 2000 the monitor was not ever opened cos it ran smoothly.

My quesion is: How should I clean the internal parts of monitor; What are the risks and protection of it, what type of materials are preffered ..and any additional helps are welcome.
Please answer only if u r familiar and expertise :)

Seems everywhere I looked there was someone always pointing out the fact that you can easily die from toying around with the internals of a CRT monitor. Fun fact for ya.

I did find a discussion on exactly what you are trying to perform http://episteme.arstechnica.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/67909965/m/334009755831/r/151004265831 with a ton of possible solutions. I could not find any postings anywhere on a clean out your CRT tutorial.

Too bad! On the bright side, LCD is getting cheaper!

Whatever you do, DO NOT open the case with the monitor on, or even after it powered off for a few hours. There are very high voltage circuits, which are necessary to create the image, and they can easily kill you.

If you are not a trained professional who is trained to work on CRTs, take it to one. A TV repair shop might also help, but I doubt that dust is your problem, and this is the only thing that would be inside your monitor.

Again, DO NOT open up this monitor, you can get killed!

Your monitor's internal parts may deserve cleaning but I doubt that it is going to fix your problem.

You are either losing horizontal scan (vertical white line) or vertical scan (horizontal white line). This is not going to be from dust build up but from a cracked solder joint or some other intermittent contact. Blowing the dust away is not going to reflow the solder.

You could take it to a repair shop and see if they can open it and touch up any dodgy looking solder joints, but is sounds like it is just plain old.

BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THE MONITOR DO NOT OPEN
ACTUALLY YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO ONLY OPEN IT AFTER HAVING IT OFF FOR MORE THAN 12-24 HOURS.

BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THE MONITOR IF YOU DONT KNOW HOW TO CLEAN IT GET SOME COMPUTER TECHNICIAN TO TELL YOU HOW.
