I have tried removing files, and using disk clean up, but I still can't get it to remove enough files so I can use it. My D: drive is my recovery drive. Would like any ones help I can get on this one. Thanks.

Ok its already formatted if there are files on it so dont do that unless you want to lose everything on it. If it is your recovery drive, you may want it to be external, just a thought though. As for the problem at hand, are you saying that it has 6.26 GB free but is saying it has 0% free? If it is saying that, then you may have a virus. It sounds like a virus that is screwing up the way the hard drive thinks for itself. The computer knows there is room but the hard drive thinks it is full. As for the solution, virus scan. IF you are saying that the drive can physically hold 6 GB and that you have filled it, well then you need to upgrade to a larger hard drive. Gb's are very cheap these days so it wont cost too much. Get yourself one that is bigger than the current master drive you have to allow for back up files + other files.

If it's a recovery drive, it's probably showing 0% because the drive is to be used only in times of recovery, and the computer maker didn't think it would be safe for users to access that drive or partition for personal use.

If you have backup disks to use for a recovery (so you won't need the software saved on this drive), you can format it to be able to access the space for personal use.

If do not want XP to notify you of low disk space then disable it in the registry. Please note that there is no UNDO in the registry so use it very carefully.
1. Go to START > RUN type regedit and press OK.
2. Navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
3. Create a new DWORD value and name it NoLowDiskSpaceChecks
4. Right-click on this newly created value and click on Modify
5. Enter 1 in the Value data field and click on OK
6. Close regedit and reboot
You should not receive anymore low disk space notifications.

well if it is your recovery drive then stay off it, and don't use it at all, or you will find yourself in trouble if and when you need to recover your system.....
