Well i decided to overclock my Processor its a AMD Athlon(TM) 64 3500+ at 2.21 ghz. I got it to be 2.32 ghz i can't seem to raise anymore. well now the temperature is what i'm worried about its around 40-45C idle and 55-60 active is that alright? And if it is how can i overclock my CPU more as i have it 11 X 210mhz right now and any more than that windows does not boot up. Please help, thanks.

That active temp is pushing the limits of safety, if you plan to go any higher you will probably need a better heatsink. As for your problems about not going higher, a couple of things. Increasing the CPU speed increases the RAM speed on AMDs, so your RAM may be running to high. Also you HyperTransport is running higher, it may be running too high. Overclocking AMDs can be a little more complicated than Intels, if you need further help email me.

Maybe you should read the article in PC-GAMER of June 2007, (Learn how to safely overclock your PC).
An increase of 0.11 Ghz doesn't seem worthwhile and it is running "hot" already?
The built-in safety feature may prevent you from increasing it more anyway.
Decrease it and play safe before you "Burn out."
If you MUST have more speed try upgrading to a faster CPU rather than fooling around and be forced to replace it.
PS: I have a duo 3Ghz and I could use a faster CPU myself, I'll just make do with what I have (software wise).

You temp under load is a bit high, but not dangerous. If you are using the stock heatsink/fan, then that's about the best you can do.

You are probably locking up at faster speeds because of your memory.

You might get slightly faster speed if you drop the FSB down a bit and increase the multiplier.

I am going to be playing around with a Barton 2500+ this weekend and seeing how high I can get that stable under air.

If you are running your computer at max FSB speed please do yourself a favor and turn it down 10-15 notches. Running your computer at that speed is not safe for the computer and you are only going to get minmal performance upgrade. If you decide to ignore this and push it anyway, please post when your computer burns out so i can LOL @ you. I have burned out a few CPU's in my day, save yourself the hassle.

why the f are you overclocking it? and ur wondering why its overheating? its over heating cause ur making it over heat because you are overclocking it. thats the reason they dont have 20 ghz processors they can make them all day but dont have a way to keep the processors cool. if ur being stupid you deserve to burn up ur processor
