I presume you have a printed image that you wish to store on your PC and perhaps from storage send via e mail or FTP.

Since it is printed, scan it in with a scanner and save it as a jpg or bmp (J Peg or Bitmap).

Just scan & save on your laptop. You must have a scanner attached to your laptop.

You need a scanner to do that. You can connect a scanner to your computer through either a USB or Parallel cable.
