Hello...I have a toshiba satellite laptop and I understand this...it's because it's overheated. Toshiba's are notorious for having bad cooling fans, you should buy a fan to put under the laptop like I have.

I use one that looks like this http://www.amazon.com/Notebook-Lattitude-VGN-FE770G-VGN-FS660-Eforcity/dp/B000OHFI8S/ref=sr_1_2/002-0843396-0904029?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1185478274&sr=1-2

It goes under your laptop when it's on.

It's overheating. Make sure your A.C is on while using you laptop & it has enough free space around it to exhaust it's heat in the form of hot air produced by the processor fan. The more you use your notebook in terms of processing power (playing a game, writing a dvd, video editing, rendering), the more it generates heat. Don't do such things if your working place is not cool enough as it might burn your battery. You don't want that do u ?

Hi. Improve the ventilation. Use a solid table or book to rest it on. Check the vents for dust buildup and clean them. Make sure the fan(s) work.

It is a power saving thing.
Go to Start->Control Panel->Power Options to check the settings.

it's probably overheating due to a hardware issue - maybe a fan is broken, battery is old, etc.

i'd say contact the manufacturer, if it is still under warranty.

The fan has been damaged or is bad, get it changed as soon as possible. Otherwise it may even damage your board and processor.

Take Care.................
