The WIFI will connect but it is slow when connecting to pages using Internet explorer 7 (or sometimes does not connect at all). I also tried firefox. My desktop is on the same network (and is WIFI) and does not have this problem. I tried disabling many vista security features but that helped little. The WIFI component is a 802.11b/g. Sometimes WIFI works good but it generaly causes more of a hassle than anything. My friend brought over his Dell XPS and it connected with no problems. What are my options to fix this problem?

Specs. of my laptop are:
- Genuine Windows Vista Home Basic (32-bit)
- AMD Turion(TM) 64 X2 Dual-Core TL-50(1.6GHz/512KB)
- 14.1 WXGA BrightView Widescreen (1280x800)
- NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 6150
- 2GB 2 Dimm
- 60GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
- 8X DVD+/-R/RW w/Double Layer Support
- 802.11b/g WLAN
- No TV Tuner w/remote control
- High Capacity 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
- Microsoft(R) Works 8.0
- System Recovery DVD w/Windows Vista Home Basi

These intel processors are about 200 bucks apart now, and I was wondering if anyone has one of these processors (preferrably if anyone has the quad core Q6600) please tell me what kind of resolutions and video quality your are getting for games. I'll join it with the GeForce 8800 GTS.

Something with a long battery life so I can take it to the park and write all day without its going dead. I'd rather get a laptop than word processor so I can research and check email. Am I SOL?

my laptop is 700MHz, with 64MB memory. it's running WinXP Home Ed. my screen freezes up when I click things too fast. is it because it's running XP with only 64MB? if i switch it to Win2000, would it run faster? or it simply needs more memory?

please help and give me some opinions. thanks!

Okay every hour or so my computer will decide to lockup or just restart its self. Then when its restarting or i restart it. The windows boot screen just sits there loading forever not doing nothing and if I leave it long enough sometimes a brief blue screen appears which ive seen the main words for about a second and it said registry error. Im running a 2.0 Ghz Dual Core with 1 gb ram 450 W power supply NVIDA motherboard with a Geforce 512mb video card. I have 2 fans running so i know its not a temperature problem cause ive looked in BIOS and nothing in there is out of the ordinary. Please im in distress I need to get this computer stable and running. Just bought it a few months ago don't want to actually get rid of it yet.

I tried to put the drive in, and it automatically booted from it instead of the old one. The new one is messed up (the operating system) and it brings up a recovery thing. Then when the recovery thing finishes, it turns the computer off. What can I do to format this disk without having to
1) pay money
2) mail it off
3) waste my time

I live in the middle of nowhere with slowest dialup connection know to man. I'm stuck with it for at least another 2 years. In the meantime, I would like to make the dialup more convenient to use for my laptop.

Is there some kind of hardware that can be used to do this? If so, please give me the brand name so I know what to buy.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

I want to uninstall windows XP, I was told to format my c drive but it won't let me untill the volume is dismounted. I don't know wot this is, how do i dismount the volume? The computer said " format cannot run because the volume is in use by another format. Format may run if this volume is dismounted first". I have no idea wot this means, please help.

I have just way too many photos, videos (at least ten hours of 'em all together), docs, and softwares on my slow computer with I think viruses. -_-;; Because of all the stuff I have in it, the computer's slower than normal. I heard from someone that I can buy something to increase the amount of space in my local disk.

What exactly is that thing and how much does that cost? The guy said it should be less than $100. Thanks!

I have gained the opinion that laptops are risky for businesses to use. I just had a client have his hard drive crash and it's going to cost $800 - $2400 to recover the data. Of course this can happen with a desktop,.....but, and here's the clincher for me, the desktop lends itself to more seamless backup/recovery solutions. Also, what if something other than the hard drive fails? Even warranty work takes a long time with laptops....so what do you use while the laptop is having "diagnostics" done? What are your thoughts?

my AC power adapter suddenly stopped working, so i bought a new one and what i noticed is that the computer does not recognize this adapter (even though it's the same model as the old one & as written on the laptop itself). Now, when plugged to the adapter the laptop is working on the AC adapter, however the battery does not charge (and it doesn't decrease as well). Please help!
