my AC power adapter suddenly stopped working, so i bought a new one and what i noticed is that the computer does not recognize this adapter (even though it's the same model as the old one & as written on the laptop itself). Now, when plugged to the adapter the laptop is working on the AC adapter, however the battery does not charge (and it doesn't decrease as well). Please help!

Your laptop battery charger board is most likely damaged. If at any point a non-complient power supply was used (delivering a different Voltage and Ampage) or the battery charger board was subjected to a power surge, then the symptoms means you need to have your laptop repaired. Have you ever tried charging your laptop in your car using a universal charger? That's how mine died :)
