1 GB Memory Module for Dell Inspiron 9300 Notebook. I have a 512 MB Memory Module for Dell Inspiron 9300. Will I see a difference in gameplay and performance, or not really? Should I buy the 1 GB? Is it worth it? Computer people let me know what you know.

So basically I have trouble running a lot of games, I would like to be able to play games without a big lag. Will this 1GB or even 2 GB give me that "boost" that Im looking for?

Adding more RAM is always a positive. Twice as much will increase your performance and gameplay, definitely. It'll reduce lag and smooth out multitasking.

It mostly depends on what games you are playing. If you are playing anything 3D, like shooters or role-playing games, then yes. If you are playing stuff on Pogo, like poker or card games, then you probably no. Memory is like air, it only really matters when you don't have any left :-)
When you play your games, if you hold Ctrl-alt-delete (click on task manager if you are using xp professional) then go to the processes tab. If the available memory in the Physical Memory (K) part is very low (i would say less than 10%)then you should buy more memory. Also, if when playing your games, if your laptop is constantly hitting the hard drive (after this inital load) then you definitley need memory.
You also may be able to turn up the graphics on many of the games you play if you add more memory, especially the quality of textures.
Chances are if you buy the 1gb chip then you will end up with 1.5 gb of ram, which is more than most games will require on decent settings.

It will be a huge boost. RAM upgrades are the #1 thing that help your computer's overall speed (given that you're not totally bogged down with spyware). You'll be able to run twice as many programs at once and any games that you play will be much smoother.

If you can, look for a 2GB upgrade. That'll keep your computer running very smoothly for years as long as your processor isn't too old.

It'll make a difference, but 2 gigs would be better, especially for playing games on a laptop. On a desktop, you might be able to get by on 1 gig of RAM plus a good video card.

You might be able to leave the 512MB chip in place, and just add the gig to end up with 1.5 total. But if you can afford it, go ahead and upgrade to 2 gigs.

I say it would depend on your graphics card, but upgrading from 512 to 1GB would boost your pc's whole performance but not necessarily games..

Hope this helps & good luck,

Go for two 1 gig sticks you'll be able to handle vista then as well. Huge difference from just a single 1 gig stick.

some games will load faster, and if you ever plan on playing battlefield 2, then anything under 1gb will give you a lot of stuttering,it took 2gb before that game even stop stuttering.
