Laptop otherwise is ok, windows xp home installed, ac adapter new. otherwise works fine. When you plug the ac adapter into the laptop and wall then turn it on. ok. if you turn on the laptop and plug it in, it wont recognize the ac and runs off the battery. if the plug comes out and you replug it, same problem. Any ideas?

sounds like the power settings are off,go to control panel click power options and there will be a box with power schemes in the drop down menu make sure portable laptop is the power scheme.

I am having the same problem with my computer...I have the same model too...must have something to do with the connection where the plug goes into.
