I have just way too many photos, videos (at least ten hours of 'em all together), docs, and softwares on my slow computer with I think viruses. -_-;; Because of all the stuff I have in it, the computer's slower than normal. I heard from someone that I can buy something to increase the amount of space in my local disk.

What exactly is that thing and how much does that cost? The guy said it should be less than $100. Thanks!

Have you tried running Defrag? right click on My Computer and choose Manage. Select Disk Defragmenter. Click Analyze and the computer will tell you if you need it. If so click the Defragment. This can greatly increase the speed of your computer. Every time you put something on your computer it is stored on a track on the hard drive. the tracks used until it is full and then the data is stored on the next track. If you save something and go back 2 weeks later and make changes, and that track is full then the changes are saves on a different track. When you computer tries to access the data, it now needs to go to 2 separate tracks to access it. When you defrag your hard drive it puts everything together so the computer dose not need to search the entire hard drive to pull up data.

Well the "local disk" refers to your harddrive. But you only need to upgrade this if you are lacking space to store your pics, docs etc. Memory, or RAM, is used when you are accessing the pictures in an application (along with several other things) . Depending on what type of memory and how much you can get pretty expensive. Since you don't have very much knowledge in this area I would recommend you take it to a computer shop and have them reload it and recommend upgrades.

First off, get an antivirus program. Make sure it is kept up to date and runs frequently. Anti spyware is a good idea too.

If you want to speed up the computer, and you run a lot of programs at once, them more RAM will speed things up.

If you are looking for more storage space, then there is little you can do to expand you current hard drive. However, you usually can have up to four drives (Hard drives to CD/DVD drives) in your computer if there is space.

If you are short of case space, or do not want to open up your computer then you can buy an external hard drive. USB or Firewire, depending on what connections you have.

You're looking for a hard drive.

Go to the computer store, they'll hook you up. If you want to look at what you currently have, go to My Computer, right-click on C:\ (unless you're default is different), then see how many #GB you got. Then buy a bigger one.

By the way, it really shouldn't make your computer slower. Cleaning up your computer and getting rid of any unnecessary running processes would help out more.

Get an external USB drive. And no, your computer does NOT slow down if you have lots of things on your hard drive

I'm not exactly sure, but I'd say something along the likes of RAM, which stands for Random Access Memory I believe.

The price would probably depend on how much you actually buy.

i bought a CD/DVD writer at bestBuy $59.
This would make sharing pics with friends easy.

Or an external USB hard drive would do the trick.

you need a bigger hard drive. the price will vary depending on what you are upgrading from and to, and if you are going to have someone put it in for you, which will have a labor cost.
