I had to reinstall Windows XP on a Dell Inspiron 8200 laptop and after the reinstall the desktop now appears very small, centered in the middle of the screen with black all around it. In other words, at lower resolutions like 800 x 600 the desktop is not being enlarged to fill the maximum screen size which is 1600 x 1200. Does anyone have any idea what could cause this?

After my friend used the computer the screen was constantly alot more bright. I have an inspiron 600m and the battery life is terrible, it lasts like an hour when i use the interent. Can anybody help me maximize the battery life so that I get 2+ hours on my laptop. I just need more battery, please help to maximize the battery life!

My Speakers suddenly stopped working. Yes, they are plugged in. They only work through earphones. I have Windows XP, and desktop speakers. Any suggestions?

The college I am going to attend offers wireless internet service. Will I still be able to use the internet when I am not on campus, say when I'm home? Inside the dorms they have internet connection set-up for desktops. Is that same for laptops, can they also be connected like desktops instead of being wireless? Can laptops be easily connected to a printer? I also hear people complaining that laptops are slow. I won't be downloading games and lots of music, just basic research and typing? Will that make it slow? Lastly, will my laptop survive the four years I'm in college?

well I am looking for a computer that can handle many tasks or operations at the same time but still be fast, normally called a "workhorse "computer. Also what processor(out int he market) should one have to achive this FAST speed on a computer. I dont know if to just buy one (any suggestion in model?) or to build one, if i do build one what kind of hardware should i get, theres so many kinds( can you provided the Name and brands?)

What is the difference between 802.11 g and 802.11g? Sometimes I can even see 802.11 a/b/g. I know it has something to do with wireless networks but what do the letters a,b or g mean. Thanks a lot for your answers !

have an hp 1315 all in one on a home network (someone else set it up do not have a clue how) it will not print from the main computer but will form the 2nd one. i have tryed uninstalling and reinstalling it it did not help at all. what do i need to do???

So I was playing this game, Ghost Recon, and suddenly my computer froze. I removed the disk, rebooted, and everything's working ok except for some reason there are these thick black vertical lines on each side of the monitor. It makes everything smaller. What is this? I have this win98 computer that I'm going to reformat and restore back to when I first bought it, since I"m getting a bunch of windows explorer errors. Will I be able to d/l the last win98 patches, drivers, etc? Is this a difficult job? I've never had to do this before....thanks for your expertise.
