Ok first thing to do is check if the printer is properly set up. I'm assuming you're using windows (most recent versions work the same way). Goto the control panel (from the start menu) and search around under hardware until you find the printer icon. Open the printer icon and to the left there should be a menu, where one option is to add new printer. Choose that and then choose network printer and click next, then find your printer in the list that comes up then double click it to add it.

By the way which computer is the printer installed on, or connected to? Or does it have it's own network cable?

if the printer is connected to the 1st computer it is easy just check the comptability and the connecting cable
if it is not you set it up by printer shaing

Sometimes printers get 'paused' somehow. Go to your printer and try to unpause it. Good luck
