I am unable to establish an internet connection to the second tower. I am using a Belkin 2 port KVM switch and D-link router.

I have bought additional RAM (512) for my PC and want to maximise installation benefits. The PC has two memory slots should I just take out the old RAM and replace it with the new or can I just add the new RAM to the empty slot so that I have 256 plus the new 512 giving 768. If I do the latter will it cause configuration problems?

Okay, so I just bought myself a new hard drive because my old one was getting a lot of bad sectors. But for some reason my mother board does not detect the drive after I started to load windows data from the CD. I've partisioned into 2 drives, formated both of them and started the windows install, but when it rebooted, it will not read the drive, nor even read the CD drive (it will read the CD drive if I have the hard drive d/c and reconnect it after it starts to read the CD drive.

Basically, what is going on, and what the heck do I do to correct it?

A friend of mine spilled a soda on his computer. When they brought it in to be repaired they said the cost would be around 600$. Is that reasonable? How long should it take to be fixed?

Would you build or buy a new computer?

The way I see it both options have their pro's and cons.....

Building:
Pro's: You know exactly what is in your computer and the specification is your choice.
Con's: Price (usually)

Buying:
Pro's:Ready made computers are usually cheaper (think DELL...........on second thoughts don't, I wouldn't touch a DELL with a bargepole, but hey each to their own.)
Cons: Do you know exactly whats inside? Usually NO....unless you invalidate your warrant.



So.....which would you chose?

when i turn my computer on it beeps 3-4 times and beeps another 3-4 times and does not booth up. my monitor gets no signal. however, the keyboard ligths up. the light on the keyboard blinks.
