Sometimes. It is kind of hit or miss.

If you are lucky, it will be able to support the slower memory. But sometimes the board will not.

For example, I have a laptop that has a 333 bus but I can use DDR266 on it just fine. But, my server will not run with less than DDR 333 memory installed.

Yes you can, because the ram does not not matter but you should make sure that the type of the DDR is same.

Probably not sucessfully. The rule of thumb is:You can go down, but not up.

I would think that it may create a bottle neck and could crash your computer...good luck
