After my friend used the computer the screen was constantly alot more bright. I have an inspiron 600m and the battery life is terrible, it lasts like an hour when i use the interent. Can anybody help me maximize the battery life so that I get 2+ hours on my laptop. I just need more battery, please help to maximize the battery life!

What happened is that your friend somehow disabled the power saving features that your laptop is programmed with.
For example, the LCD brightness is controlled by the power management. By default, it should dim when the laptop is unplugged from the wall.
To fix this you should go to the control panel under "Settings" on your start menu. From there you should be able to find an icon for "power options" on that page you can adjust settings.
Or you could go to dell's website and see if they have a power management software package on the drivers and downloads page.

Go to START, CONTROL PANEL, CLASSIC VIEW AND PERFORMANCE AND MAINTENANCE, POWER OPTION, then under power scheme, select presentation. That's it. Click the OK button to confirm.

Maybe someone changed your good battery for a not so good one.
