if you see my last 2 postings, my PC won't boot all the way, and I'm using Task Manager to open any files I want to use. This method doesn't let me use all my files, but I can play music files, sometimes I can open Internet Explorer.

Before I buy any new bits, I thin ktrying to reinstall Windows is the thing to do. However, when i try to boot off the Windows CD rom, it stalls on the blue screen at the set-up stage, where it asks what kind of installation I want.

I can open CMD prompt through Task manager, what is the exact procedure for formatting, then reinstalling Windows?

Sorry this may be a sort of repeat posting but I'm loathe to try it unless I know exactly what I'm doing.

I'm thinking it's a motherboard or CPU problem maybe.

Yes I noticed it does have 1 PCI-E x16 slot.
I plan on useing the pc for just about everything.

I want something that is going to last me. I've had an Acer TravelMate 4650 for 15 months now and it is about to die. I don't want to get another laptop that is going to last only this long. It overheats and shuts off even though it had 2 GB of RAM. I will use my laptop for downloading music and movies/shows, watching movies/shows, pictures, surfing the internet while I use instant messenger and download things at the same time. What laptop is going to last and run well and fast while I do these things? What laptop(s) is the best for me?

512mb ram, xp2400+ cpu, ms8137c+. all i seem to have is a pc that runs internet fine with videos etc but always freezes when using dvd or cdrom. at 8x speed dvd cpu usage goes through the roof. never did it in my old system which wasnt as good...AT LEAST IT WORKED ggggrrrrr HELP!

my aunt has a 9 month old packard bell laptop which has suddenly started running very slowly. the problem seems particularly bad when running firefox. she does have norton internet security 2006 which i thought may be taking up too much ram. But this has been on since new and the slow speed is only recent. my other thought is a spyware infection? please advise. thanks.

My daughter dropped in on the floor. It has all my digital photos and other documents. My computer won't read it when it is plugged in, I am assuming maybe something got knocked loose in the fall. I just back in it Jan '07. It's a Seagate. Anyone have any suggestions on how to recover the data or any companies that do it for a reasonable rate?

I want to buy a wireless keyboard and mouse, that I can use with both my desktop and laptop. Is there a way I can do this without disconnecting the input to the USB2 on my desktop. I did not find much information about it on the net, but it does not seem that great anyway. The part of the computer that the power cord connects to (the hole with the little needle in the middle) seems to be loose. The needle part is loose and though I can plug the power cord into it, I have to jiggle the cord in order to have the Low Battery icon go away. The cord has to be pulled just right in order for the computer to have any power at all. Then, even when it says it is powered up, the battery is not charging...it is simply running off of the power cord.

Can anyone tell me if this can be repaired? Especially the loose needle.

I accidently dropped my laptop its a sony vaio laptop pcg-v505 series notebook, and the screen broke and the audio is gone but everything else works great, also even the screen is broken but i can still see a little its just dark, anyway my question is i have tried the control panel and no audio device is available and i tried to download the audio from my cd but it wont accept so i was wondering is it expensive to fix the audio i dont care about the screen cuz im using another screen for now but i need to know about the audio is it hard to fix and is it pricey or not, thanks for your help.
