1)
Take the floppy disk out of the floppy drive
Take all CDs and DVDs out of the drives
Unplug any USB devices

2)
Reboot (power off and on)

If it says it's trying to boot from 'C' and won't boot... then your kids computer disk may have crashed. If you know little about computers, take it to a repair shop.

If it says it's trying to boot from something that isn't the 'C' disk, you will need to check the BIOS. Sounds like your kids have been playing with teh BIOS settings if this is the case... ask them what they did and see if tehy can un-change it... or check the manual (if you have one) and see if it explains the BIOS... or look on the web for a manual for your computer or motherboard and see if it explains what to do... or take it to a shop and look helpless and tell them the kids hozed the BIOS settings probably..

you want to boot from your HDD (hard disk drive), thats where windows is.

Usually if the computer suddenly forgets what to boot from, its because the original choice is corrupt. If it gives you a menu to choose the order in which to boot from, you want it to choose CD or DVD first, then HDD. (this is so you can insert a boot disk to fix or repair windows on the hard drive)

When you first turn on the computer it should say push something to enter set up or bios or something like that. If you push it, it will bring you to a utility that will let you choose the boot order, among other things. DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING ELSE IN THAT MENU, only change the boot order.

If that doesn't work, you'll need to reformat your hard drive, and possably a new hard drive.

Hi

It could be 1 of 2 things , the first is that it could be a cd in the drive and is botting from it , so check the drive , if there no cd in it then it could be that the windows boot sequence is long gone , so for that you need to reinstall xp from the recovery cds that came with the pc

Go into BIOS and make sure the Harddrive is picked first in the boot sequence....then make sure you have no cd's or floppies in the drives...then try to boot...if not...go into safe mode by pressing F8 at startup....once on...right click MyComputer....go into Advanced...then Startup and Recovery...and choose 0 for how many times to look for OS

Do you have a floppy disk in the computer? What about a cdrom? If so take them out and try to reboot. Where do you see this error message at? Do you get into windows at all?
