My daughter dropped in on the floor. It has all my digital photos and other documents. My computer won't read it when it is plugged in, I am assuming maybe something got knocked loose in the fall. I just back in it Jan '07. It's a Seagate. Anyone have any suggestions on how to recover the data or any companies that do it for a reasonable rate?

Save your money! Most companies will just restore your backup data from tape. Failing that, they will go to the CDs or floppies you backed the data up to.

If the drive was dropped as you say, then more than likely the drum has slipped off the spindle. If this is the case, it will need to be taken to a computer repair store to be taken apart and realigned. Before this thoguh, You may try tapping it a little on all sides (this may sound crazy, but tap it against the side of a table, but not very hard. You don't want to damage it further).
