cant see desktop items?

cant see desktop items?

on vista when i drag a file from a folder to the desktop I am unable to see it on the desktop. I have to navigate through the start menu's to reach it. How can i make this right?

right click on the desktop....select 'arrange icons by' and tick the 'show desktop items'

try right clicking on the name of the program then goto create shortcut. I know this works with XP so I can only assume that it works with Vista.
