I just purchased a laptop amd nothing works with windows vista. I bought this laptop for games and internet surfing, and I can't down loan any games that I want. Should I return the darn thing or is it possible to install windows xp over windows vista?

I have a laptop compaq presario 725US model. I would like to sell parts of it. It is non-working condition (I couldn't turn on it). I think that it might be battery problem.

However, I'm pretty sure that DVD drive, hard drive, the screen, ram and key board are working.

i am getting a vertabim 512mb usb key for basic storage ,its usb 2.0 compatible and 1.1 backwards compatible
my question is will i be able to use this device with windows vista speed boost,i have tried speed boost with a 512mb mp3 player(removable storage),and it says its not comaptible

We have recently bought a windows vista operating system and we tried to load our Hp photosmart c6180 disc onto the computer. It would not install because we are running vista. There is no seperate disk for the vista operating system either. We have tried going to the HP photosmart website and installying a fix but without success. Any help/info/links are appriated.

I've been looking at these two laptops and after configuring them similarly I notice there is about a $1000 price difference between the two systems. I noticed the graphics was a little nicer on the dell (512MB - GeForce Go 7950GTX) as opposed to the HP (512MB - GeForce Go7600), but that doesn't seem to make up the price difference. Is there something (e.g., motherboard, cooling, etc) that makes the dell worth so much more?

omg i really need help!
i think i've broken my laptop that i brough ton sunday
its a packard bell easynote s and when i try to switch it off it just keeps my desktop but none of the icons stay! what do i do to switch it off cos when i try to press the button nothing happens!

It needs a new motherboard and a new pcmcia card. The computer repair store is charging me $271.00 and to be quite honest, I'd rather get a new laptop than pay that much, it's almost 50% the laptop price.

Oh, and that is $271.00 plus $50.00 I had to pay as a 'diagnostic fee' as if I already didn't know what was wrong with the computer.

Any recommendations?

I recently formatted my hardrive, and I now cannot install many of my games that were previously on the computer (under the same OS). The installation gets part way through, and then says something along the lines of "This File does not match the file in the setup's .cab file The medium from which you are running the setup maybe corrupted."

This has happened with CD versions of Rome total war, Medieval Total War 2, Age of Empires 2, some random game I can't remember now and Morrowind 3.

Oddly enough i was able to install medieval total war and age of empires 1

I run XP home on nVidia nforce 3 motherboard with amd 64plus and 1GB of RAM

Someone told me its a problem with my drive. If so, what is it and more importantly, how do I fix it?

Its a new invention, it was discovered that if the mouse pad has a slight hump in the middle that the mouse ball will get way more traction and the range of motion necessary to use the mouse will reduce. Try this....place a piece of folded tape 2"x2"x1/8" under the middle of your mouse pad this will make it a topographic mouse pad and you will get improved mouse control.
