I just purchased a laptop amd nothing works with windows vista. I bought this laptop for games and internet surfing, and I can't down loan any games that I want. Should I return the darn thing or is it possible to install windows xp over windows vista?

Just return it and exchange it for one with XP. No need to drive yourself crazy over it and possibly voiding your warranty. It can be done, but I wouldn't recommend it since you just bought it.
