I want another partition on my hard drive (c:) and I was wondering if i had to clear the disk and start over or can i do that from the Windows environment somewhere besides Disk Manager- It wont let me do it.

I have a budget of Indian Rupees 33-35K. I want to use the laptop for mainly Internet surfing and Office applications.

Few models I selected are Acer 5101, Compaq V3155, ACER 2428.

I want to use this laptop for at least 3 years before I plan for an upgrade.

Memory needs to be at least 256MB and Hard Disk needs to be at least 60GB-80GB.

Please suggest other models too with approx price...

Recently got my computer fixed because of a virus. It's an Acer Travelmate 2312LCi and I just got it back. It currently can't play any sounds and I don't know why, it did before. I have XP installed too, so... I don't know what the problem is. Help.

Okay, I think I have A CD-R on my computer drive, but I don't think I have a DV-R. Is Is possible I can play DVDs on my computer without having a DVD Player and/or a DV-R? If so is there a program.

-Why is it some usb devices can only connect thru the main usb ports on the back of the computer and not thru a hub, even a powered one? More specifically, they react as if they are connected but Windows doesn't see them. How can it tell the difference?

I have Hyper Threading enabled on my Pentium 4 and I would like to know, since Hyper Threading creates two virtual cores, does each core run at half the speed? And what is the difference between using just one virtual core and the whole processor if HT is disabled?

I recently bought a used PC etower, tried to use the reload disk..followed the instructions but my emachine monitor that i am running now w/1998 emachine will not boot past post screen. i had the PC tower checked out at Best Buy's Geek Squad and they said the tower was fine but the reload disk was bad. i ordered a new one from the manufacturer followed instructions to the T and the same thing happens. at least after the screen goes blank i hear music. i guess it's like being put wait on hold. buy the way i did call The Geek Squad and was told to bring it back. can someone help to solve my problem? it was very difficult for me to get to geek squad in the first place. i am practically a shut in and i went to great lengths to get it there. i called all the numbers i could find to no avail. finally called best buy corp. was put on hold again forever On My Dime. is it possible that it could be the monitor even though it works fine with the tower i'm on now? the newer one has xp home

I installed a new Maxtor 160gb SATA hard drive in my Dell Dimension 4600. I cannot get it to boot from the CD. (After adjusting the BIOS to the proper "boot sequence", of course.)

Anyone have any thoughts?

Hi, when ever Im watching vids on google or youtube, and probably other places that I just dont go to, they either start to slow down (the vid and the music), or the music stops matching the video. Im sure your thinking that its my crappy computer, but i have a nice computer (vista ultimate, 2gb ram, geforce 7950gt, athlon 4600 dualcore, 10000rpm hd, etc...), so please help me. And its not my internet becasue I have very fast internet (10.01mbps on the patmedia.net speedtest), and it still happens when I let videos load fully before playing. thanks alot! -George

I was trying to clean out my sister's laptop by pulling out some keys. After cleaning the spacebar key, I tried to place it back, but two of the white peices that holds it together snapped in different places. Now, the spacebar is loose on both sides and wiggles around. Is there anything I can do to fix it? Thanks

I do not see it ever flash on the black screen with all the computer information.. it goes right to the black screen saying that. The computer monitor flickers badly also-even while in the bios settings. I swapped monitors-same problem so I know its not the monitor. I swapped the power source with a new one-and it still does it. When I try to start the computer using a windows xp pro cd-even though i have home(no cd) and when it gets to the repair.. i see a dos like screen flash a bunch of things.. till it gets to the c/ prompt and stops. I try running fixboot and it comes back to the c: prompt. When trying to run system restore it says no hard drive found.
This computer is only 13 months old -yet one month past warranty so it's not covered. Everything I have read is pointing to a bad hard drive but its hard to believe it would already go bad. Also,I don't understand the flickering monitor. Have tried even plugged the computer using new cords to new outlets.Any suggestion
