Go to this website and download the Windows Vista Advisor!
It should tell you of any compatibility problems!
You may have to download a few other tools to make the advisor work but its pretty easy!
Brian! I have to correct you!
PC World gave me a full refund for an opened copy of Vista and according to Consumer Direct (a branch of the trading standards office) Whether the product is opened or not they have to refund you if the product is faulty or (in my case) it didn't do what the manufacturers claimed!
Its the sale of goods act 1979
If a retailer tries to pawn you off with the no return guff they are breaking UK law!
I will quote the girl at Consumer Direct when she said "it is not the ccustomer's fault if the retailer is paranoid about counterfieting"

Like everyone else said, run the advisor.
I myself have got an Advent 8109 and im waiting for my free upgrade, but more to the point, at pc world, and on the laptop, it says the laptop is vista capable, which means vista will work, because it meets the requierements. So nothing should go wrong. Just backup up your data, and keep the windows retore disc next to you if you need to put xp back on.

vista is more stable than xp when it first came out,so it wont mess up your p.c
if your p.c has any hardware issues with vista it wont install vista it will just quit the set up
so you are best to run the vista upgrade advisor before you buy vista,as when you have unpacked the box and took out the disk the shops will not refund your money as they will say you should of run the advisor tool
go to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/buyorupgrade/upgradeadvisor.mspx,and download the upgrade advisor then run it,its 100% accurate so if your p.c passes the scan its fine to go ahead and buy vista
good luck

Definitely not. The only way you can mes it up is by not finishing it. I was a tester for Vista and know the ups and downs of the os.
