I tried doing a hard drive self test in BIOS , and got the response " #1- 07 Fail " . What does this mean and what would have caused it ?

Sounds like a head crash on the drive. Replace it.

Hi there.

Unmountable boot volume is generally a good sign that the HDD is failing. Sounds like corrupt or damaged sectors and when the HDD test that says it is failing, it probably means that.

Sorry buddy, your HDD is on the way to death.

Well did you do the self test where you get a light blue screen and a listing and wouldn't the self test it fix it. What OS do you run.

probably a knackard Hard Drive - replace it
