Recently got my computer fixed because of a virus. It's an Acer Travelmate 2312LCi and I just got it back. It currently can't play any sounds and I don't know why, it did before. I have XP installed too, so... I don't know what the problem is. Help.

Hi

Ok lets start with the basic , does the little speaker appears at the lower right of the screen were the clock is ?? If not then it means that windows IS NOT loading the sound drivers . Now , try this first , open control panel and open administrative tools ,then open services . here at the bottom it should say something like windows audio. verify that is started if not try to start it , now if windows gives you an error saying it CANNOT start the service , then it means that the sound drivers are LONG GONE , so you may need to re-install the drivers again

I had the exact same problem on my computer. I went in to get it fixed, and when i got it back there was no sound. I went almost two years without any sound on my computer! It was really frusterating. When I turned it in for a new one, I found out that you have to go to your volume control center. Make sure nothing is on mute, and there should be a little box that says something about the media. make sure that box is checked.
im not sure if your problem is the same as mine--
sorry if i didn't help

your driver might also not be working. yo umight have to re-install them.
