Hardware - February 2007

Could it be that by dropping my computer on the rug from about a foot high that I did something so that the computer keeps telling me I have no audio devices installed? I've spent about 10 hours trying to rectify the problem....reinstalling the sound drivers, going into control panel, downloading codec pkgs., installing updates etc. etc. and nothing works. Also, the wireless now disconnects every time the computer goes to sleep.

My printer (Dell 946) is not printing my paper. When I go to the print thing it says Ihave 14 document waiting. How can I make them print?

Of course, I'm not going to buy a 4 gb ram laptop right off the bat. I just want one compitable of doing it so in the end future I will upgrade it at a later time.

Specific laptops of the brand are helpful.

Can Dell computers only be upgraded by Dell hardware? I've tried to put some RAM and some other parts in my girlfriends pc, and it either won't recognize it. Or won't even boot up completely.

Im going to build my own computer..and i cant choose a motherboard. i prefer one under $100, one that lets me add on my graphics card, tv tuner. im going to be putting a amd athlon 64 3800. I cant decide which one to get! ill find a good one but reading the problems on reviews gets me turned off. this will be my first time building a computer..so i need it to not have alot of problems lol

My Aiptek VGA PenCam that I use as a webcam loads incredibly slow on only ONE person's IM... it skips, it takes forever to show a movement. On all the others, it works great and moves at the same time I do. Why does it do this and how can I fix it?

I've heard about these air cards that let you go online where ever you are. Well, I am going on vacation soon and the place i'm staying at doesn't have internet. So is there anyway that I can just use an air card for that week instead of signing this 2 year contract thing? Like what is the company that will let me use it for just that week? Thanks

I have a problem with my computer that just started this morning. Whenever I boot it, it takes me to a screen that says that Windows did not boot successfully and gives me a bunch of options such as Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Command Prompt, and Start Windows Normally. Whenever I try hitting any of the options, the computer restarts and I can never get to the startup screen. This has never happened before, but I'm guessing it might be a virus. How can I fix it if I can't log on?
